FAQ

What is BENS?

Business Executives for National Security, a nationwide, non-partisan public interest group, is the primary channel through which senior business executives help enhance the nation's security. BENS members use their business experience to drive our agenda, deliver our message to decision makers and make certain that the changes we propose are put into practice. BENS has only one special interest: to help make America safe and secure.

What BENS is:

    • Nationwide and diverse.  Members come from a wide range of enterprises, most with no relationship to the defense industry.
    • Results oriented.  Members are leaders who want to do something – not leave it solely to people inside the Beltway to work important issues.
    • Member driven.  Members help deliver the BENS message, aided by our professional staff in Washington that helps facilitate the effort.
    • Focused.  We target those issues that best use members’ management skills and experience.  BENS shines a spotlight on government business practices in the national security arena that can and should be changed.
    • Cooperative with the White House, federal and state government agencies, and Congress – but always willing to take an independent position.
    • Credible and respected.  Government agencies routinely come to BENS for help and advice.
    What BENS isn't:

    • BENS is not a trade association or interested in promoting this or that weapons system.
    • Nor is it ideological, partisan, profit seeking or self-serving.  BENS doesn’t represent any individual or company for the purpose of gaining government contracts or other enrichment.  Instead, the private sector gives back to the public.
    • BENS isn’t a conventional “Think Tank.”  We focus on tangible results, not generating paper.

    What BENS believes:

    • More is not better.  Less is not better.  Only better is better.
