A native of Washington, D.C., Joseph E. Robert, Jr. becameChairman of the Board
of Directors of Business Executives forNational Security on May 10, 2007.
Mr. Robert is founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of J.E. Robert Companies (JER), one of the world’s largest private commercial real estate investment and asset management firms. JER’s operations and investments stretch throughout 14 countries in North America, Mexico and Europe.
In 1990, Mr. Robert founded and continues to serve as Chairman of Fight For Children, Inc. (FFC), a Washington based philanthropic organization whose mission is to create, promote and invest in K-12 education opportunities that successfully prepare children for college and the workplace, and to provide quality primary health care options for our youth. Since FFC’s inception, it has raised over $105 million through contributions, matching grants and public policy initiatives to support more than 140 organizations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In addition, Joseph Robert is the Chairman of the Washington Scholarship Fund and was Chairman of the successful $300 million Comprehensive Campaign at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, which resulted in the building of the Joseph E. Robert, Jr. Center for Surgical Care at the Children’s National Medical Center.
Mr. Robert is a member of the board of the following organizations: The International Advisory Board of EuroHypo AG, Institute for International Economics, National Health Museum, Atlantic Council of the United States, Lehman Brothers Private Equity Advisory Board, Quincy Jones Listen Up Foundation, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Policy Advisory Board of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics of the University of California.
Mr. Robert is a member of the World Economic Forum, Horatio Alger Association, The Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, The Alfalfa Club, Marine Corp Heritage Foundation, the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., The Bretton Woods Committee, and the Federal City Council.
Mr. Robert lives in McLean, Virginia and has two sons.
