Cyber security is a critical national security challenge. The security of our nation’s infrastructure is largely dependent on that of our nation’s cyber systems, and BENS can help make these systems more secure. We believe that little progress has been made in cyber security policy because senior executives in the private sector have not organized themselves to communicate necessary action. BENS has worked in the past to convene leading business executives (CEOs and CIOs) and solicit their input on the primary cyber security challenges their companies face.
In similar future efforts, BENS again could use its membership and credibility to convene preeminent private-sector voices — inside and outside of the technology industry — to articulate their most pressing cyber security concerns. BENS could then evaluate and examine these inputs and identify policy solutions.
