BENS members have expressed significant interest in the issue of national energy security over the years. In searching for an appropriate project, BENS in early 2007 was asked by the Pentagon to help stimulate business participation in a U.S. Air Force Symposium on energy conservation and alternatives. This symposium represented outreach efforts for innovative energy-related work currently being conducted by the Pentagon, which may include further potential partnerships with BENS in the future.
We also have discussed with SAFE [Securing America’s Future Energy, a 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4)] possible collaboration on aspects of their ambitious energy security proposals. In April 2007, BENS formally endorsed many of those proposals in letters to relevant members of Congress.
