23rd Annual Washington Forum (2012)
The 2012 Washington Forum- held on May 22, 2012- focused on the topic “Sustaining Our Nation’s Economic Security.” The day comprised of lectures and panels on defense intelligence, the future of the Department of Defense and military in light of impending budget cuts, cyber security, and economic security in relationships with growing Asia-Pacific economies. Over the course of the day, attendees heard from leaders from the Department of Defense, multiple branches of the U.S. military, the Defense Intelligence Agency, media, and the business community, including: Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, USA, nominee for Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Dr. Ashton B. Carter, Deputy Secretary of Defense, General Ray T. Odierno, USA, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, Greg Myre, Senior Editor, NPR’s Morning Edition, Jennifer Griffin, National Security Correspondent, FOX News, Jeffery Hunker, Principal, Jeffery Hunker Associates, Stewart Baker, former Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and current Partner at Steptoe and Johnson, LLP, Anthony Jones, Vice President of Guy Carpenter & Company, Alfred R. Berkley, III, former Vice Chairman and President, NASDAQ, and former Chairman of the President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Committee, Lieutenant General Wallace “Chip” Gregson, USMC (Ret.), Senior Advisor, Avascent International and former Assistant Secretary of Defense, Asian and Pacific Security Affairs, Derek Scissors, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow, Asian Studies Center, The Heritage Foundation, and John Bussey, Managing Editor and Executive Business Editor of the Wall Street Journal.

22nd Annual Washington Forum (2011)
The 2011 Washington Forum – held on May 12, 2011 – tackled issues ranging from changing trends in global security, cyber security, and homegrown terrorist threats to U.S. development policy. The discussions featured expert insight from leaders representing the Departments of Homeland Security and State, and multiple branches of the military, including: General James Cartwright, USMC, then-Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Rand Beers, Under Secretary of the National Protection and Programs Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security; Ambassador Robert Loftis, State Department Acting Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization; Catherine Herridge, FOX News national Correspondent; Ben Riley, Principal Deputy Secretary of Defense for Rapid Fielding; Captain Wayne Porter, USN; Colonel Mark Mykleby, USMC; and Dr. Ruth David, President and CEO of ANSER Corporation.
21st Annual Washington Forum (2010)
Cyber security, strategic threats to the U.S., returning veterans and defense strategy and spending took center stage at the BENS Washington Forum on May 19, 2010. The day’s discussions featured an impressive slate of national security leaders, including: The Honorable Ellen O.
